Overview

Phoenix International School is a growing institution in Sri Lanka offering an alternative approach to education, one centred on building character, excellence, and purpose in its students. The school had developed a loyal community and an active social media presence on Facebook and Instagram, but had no professional website. As the director set his sights on expanding the school’s reputation beyond its local area, it became clear that social media alone wasn’t enough.

The Challenge

Without a website, Phoenix had no owned digital presence. Everything lived on social platforms, which meant no control over branding, no dedicated space to communicate the school’s philosophy, and no credible destination for prospective parents researching schools online. The director wanted more than just a website. He wanted a digital foundation that would support the school’s transition from a well-known local name to a recognised institution for alternative education in Sri Lanka.

Our Approach

We started with the brand, not the code.

Brand Strategy & Visual Identity Before designing a single screen, we worked closely with the director to understand what makes Phoenix different. The emphasis on character development over rote learning, the commitment to purpose-driven education, the community the school has built. We translated that into a visual identity system: typography, colour palette, tone of voice, and imagery direction that feels warm, grounded, and ambitious.

Website Design The site was designed to serve two primary audiences: prospective parents evaluating the school, and the existing community looking for information. Every page leads with the school’s mission and values rather than burying them behind generic welcome text. The design is clean, confident, and lets the school’s story do the heavy lifting.

Performance & Accessibility Built with Vite and Tailwind CSS for fast load times and a responsive experience across devices. The majority of prospective parents will find the school on their phones, so the site was designed mobile-first to meet them where they are.

Results

Phoenix International School now has a professional digital home that reflects the quality of the education it provides. The director has a platform he can point to when speaking with prospective parents, community partners, and anyone asking “what is Phoenix?” The answer is no longer just a Facebook page.

The website positions the school as a serious, forward-thinking institution, giving the director the credibility and visibility he needs as he works to grow Phoenix beyond its local roots.
